Today’s young academic society is clearly international. The number and scope of exchange programmes or international internships for students – such as the Erasmus or the new Erasmus Mundus I and II programmes – have increased dramatically. International collaboration has been strengthened and links between different European universities are today the norm.

The new generation of European students is different: new perceptions, new ambitions, and a particular enthusiasm for international cooperation are widely spread. Through their experiences abroad, the young students gathered not only language skills, but also shifted their perspectives and interests. The European Master Thesis Award aims to promote and reward the intellectual potential of this young generation of European students. The Master Thesis Award contributes to sharing ideas and knowledge on the cutting edge of science.

The diversity of approaches, disciplines and backgrounds of the submissions can shed new light on the widely defined topics concerning the European continent. By carefully selecting the best contributions according to rigorous scientic criteria, the Master Thesis Award gives a preview of the young researchers’ capacities and stimulates an informed and open debate.

The Master Thesis Award aims to collect, review and publish the best academic contributions of students with different disciplinary backgrounds. The submissions have to explore the complex and consequential process which impacts the lives of all European citizens and beyond. Students are invited to submit their Master Theses dealing with economic, legal, social and political aspects of the European endeavour. The Award strongly encourages interdisciplinary works and applies standard scientific criteria to select the best contributions. The laureates should have dealt eloquently and innovatively with important issues that affect European society, taking into account the relevance and communicability of their contributions.
